Metals LOGs Auction Beginning September 29, 2025

BNSF is pleased to announce that, beginning Monday, September 29, 2025, guaranteed placement of 65/66-foot gondolas will be offered for 26- and 13-week permits through BNSF's Loading Origin Guarantees (LOGs) Program.

The auctions will be held Monday, September 29, 2025 (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT), as well as Monday, October 6, 2025, unless all available equipment has been allocated.
 
Effective when the new 26-week shipping period begins on October 20, 2025, the following changes will be made to the Metals LOGs program:

  • 26-Week Auction - Minimum bid allowed $25
  • 13-Week Auction - Minimum bid allowed $50

The following rules will continue to apply to the Metals LOGs program:

  • Only the 65/66-foot Gondolas Logs car type will be offered in the Metals LOGs auctions.
  • Qualification to participate in the LOGs program:
    • Customers must ship product rated with a BNSF-published price authority.
    • Non-BNSF-published price authorities include but are not limited to the UP I-5 proportional rate agreement and BNSF’s switch book, BNSF 8005.
  • The weekly ordering flex percent is zero.
  • LOGs equipment requests are due by 4:00 p.m. CT on Mondays prior to the shipping week.
  • LOGs claims must be filed within 30 days of failure.
  • The number of eligible Bill(s) of Lading submitted showing the LOGs permit number during the LOGs period will be used to determine any shortfall penalty.
